About The Event
MAKER MELA
Team RFACTOR participated in the Maker Mela to spread awareness about FIRST and STEM. Along with this, the R.F.I (Road Felon Identification) project, which was developed by one of the team member, was also displayed. The R.F.I uses RFID systems for sustaining an automated traffic control system - it works on the principle of scanning RFID tags through RFID scanners placed on traffic signals. Given that the Indian government made it mandatory for all cars to have RFID tags, this idea is definitely implementable. The R.F.I project was presented at Intel IRIS and Maker Mela, where it won the Public Choice Award.
S.T.I.R
An initiative towards contributing to the Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan. Team RFactor invited children aged between 9 and 19 years to build a robot to clean India.
Mind splash
The 10th of December 2017 marked the day when Team RFactor FRC #6024, along with Team Pangaea FRC #6813, hosted an outreach event named MindSplash. School students from grades 5-10 took part in this FLL kickoff event. The event was hosted for more than 35 teams and about 200 students from various schools. The goal of the event was to enhance their understanding about FLL challenges and motivate them to participate in the FIRST Lego League. The day started off with each team being assigned a mentor. Inspired by this year’s FLL Hydrodynamics Challenge, the participants were given the following tasks: Understand the human water cycle. List down the various components of the human water cycle. List the problems in each components of the human water cycle. Choose a problem and come up with the solution for it. Create a presentation/model/drawing representing the solution Present your idea to the judges.
Equal Streets
Streets is a street festival held on the some streets of Mumbai. Every Sunday, till 10:00 AM, vehicles are prohibited from the street, allowing people to walk and cycle safely. Our team exhibited various innovations that the team members had built for previous FLL® competitions and other science competitions. They displayed various posters conveying fundamental safety rules. They also conducted mock drills around safety measures, safety tips and advice.
Children For Change
Team R FACTOR organized Children for Change - an initiative to spread awareness about Robotics, STEM, and Safety - to the students of grades 5-12. We introduced them to robotics and gave them a platform to ideate and prototype ideas for projects that could help improve our community. This program constituted of a logic test, an Ideathon, robot-build session, and a drone challenge - CFC not only tested students’ knowledge but also their creativity, tenacity, and sheer nerve.
Asha Foundation
Asha foundation is NGO working for underprivileged children since 2001. Our team, Team Rfactor conducted the outreach event on 28th October 2017 for the underprivileged children, for educating them about “Science Technology Engineering And Maths (STEM).” The purpose of the event was to help children and strengthen their opportunity to learn more and enlighten them about Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM). The outreach event was an initiative to spread awareness to the kids and help them to get more knowledge about the subject.
